UK Nationals 2017

Overall, there were 18 pilots flying in the UK Nationals 2017 contest. In no particular order they were: Allan Griffiths, Angus Balfour, Arun Horne, Barry White, Chris Hughes, Dan Gallo, Dave Lucas, Dave Staley, Dave Twilley, Jon Tappin, Jorge Gutierrez, Mal Green, Phil Mitchell, Simon Dawes, Simon Lorenz, Steve Curry, Steve Hartley and Thomas David. These pilots flew a grand total of 288 judged sequences. 

Arun Horne won the Sportsman class. There were 4 pilots in Sportsman. The winning order was: (1) Arun Horne, (2) Simon Dawes, (3) Dave Staley and (4) Barry White. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 2 unknown rounds. The scores ranged from a low of 775.9 to a high of 1,000 (a range of 224.1 points). 

Simon Lorenz won the Intermediate class. There were 2 pilots in Intermediate. The winning order was: (1) Simon Lorenz and (2) Dave Twilley. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 2 unknown rounds. The scores ranged from a low of 964.8 to a high of 1,000 (a range of 35.2 points). 

Steve Hartley won the Advanced class. There were 5 pilots in Advanced. The winning order was: (1) Steve Hartley, (2) Chris Hughes, (3) Dave Lucas, (4) Mal Green and (5) Allan Griffiths. Angus Balfour won the Unlimited class. There were 7 pilots in Unlimited. The winning order was: (1) Angus Balfour, (2) Thomas David, (3) Jon Tappin, (4) Jorge Gutierrez, (5) Dan Gallo, (6) Steve Curry and (7) Phil Mitchell. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 2 unknown rounds. The scores ranged from a low of 704.2 to a high of 1,000 (a range of 295.8 points). 

The tightest competition was for 3rd place in the Unlimited class, with only 7.5 points difference between Jon Tappin and Jorge Gutierrez.
