I'm considering getting a Pilot RC 50cc Yak 54 or Sbach 342. I've heard the Sbach is pretty good at precision but I haven't heard anything about the Yak 54. Does anyone have any experience doing precision with these airplanes?

I'm trying to find something that is around 16 lbs. and will do both precision and 3D well. I'm moving up to Sportsman this year so I'm not quite to the point of needing a much bigger plane and just wanting to keep things as simple as possible for now.

haven't flown those, but I know of a few folks that have been quite successful with an Extra that you might know of

The EF Yak should be a good choice also.

50cc planes seem a little weak on the uphill, (my opinion).
I'd toss a tuned pipe in it to get better vertical.
Also, stay with extreme flight or pilot-rc, they are lighter than
AW, Hang 9 etc. Again just my opinion.
Ultimately a 100cc or larger will make you smile and likely improve
you game a bit, good luck Ben.

Another plane I would consider is the J'Tec 2.5 Extra. It will cost roughly the same as a 50cc plane but is much bigger with a 101" wingspan. Mine came out at 24 lbs RTF with an old ZDZ 80 and JMB can and everything else stock. Performance is great and it easily flies the Sportsman sequence with power to spare.
