Back to building tonight, I'll be gluing the wing sockets in, I also can't forget to cut the foam for the servo wires. I'm going to set up the servos inside the wings, like the composite 2.6 Yak. This way the servo arm is directly line up with the aileron clevis, I believe this set up holds trim better.

Are you saying if you had cats you would have been kicking them ? Or that they would have had something to scratch ?

LOL!!! As long as I stay away fron the Tequila I shouldn't have any more.

Is been crasy at home with the kids gettin ready for Schooll, but I manage to get some building time in.

I have glued in the blocks on the wing root cap, just have to sand them and drill the holes for the blind nuts. I also glued the blocks where the studs are going to go thru.

What I did next was to get the wing socket glued in the wing.

First I cut two small pices of 3/8 balsa to hold the tube socket support against the foam, this will keep the glue from pushing the ply, the picture will explain this better.

Did you seal up the end of the socket so glue can not get into it when sheeting ?

In order to get a good amount of glue on the wing socket I took the wing out of the chucks laid it on the table and used tape to open the gap just a little. I used some scrap balsa on the edges to ptrotect the foam.

So far so good, No turning back now.

With the wing socket in place I started to add glue back and forth while rotating the socket, once I was sure I had enough glue. I removed the tape and installed those two pices of balsa and I put the wing back on the chucks, OH yea I put a pice of wax paper on top of the slot where the glue went in, if you don't do this you will be in trouble.

Thanks Mark, Thanks POP'S. I'll have to say other than trying to glue one of my socks to the top of my foot no foo-bars so far, or I can do what Mark said fix it before I take the picture LOL!!!. during a build you tend to do things twice so I take my time on the first one learn from it and then second one is much faster but i still double check.

I should be able to glue in the other wing socket in place tonight so is the same set up as the first I'll just take a picture of it when I'm done.

Hey Mark you should come to our big bird flying this weekend. Come on out POP"s is only a 6hr ride.

Hey guys,

I have the second wing tube socket guled in placed and while the glue was setting up I continued my work on the wing end caps. First I found center by simply going corner to corner, then I clamped it to the table and used a pice of plywood to protect the table and this also keeps the mounting block from spliting all up when the drill bit comes out.

Once i had all the holes drilled, I used a hex head 1/4 20 bolt with washer to pull the blind nut in.

I took some 1/2in aluminum stock and drilled and taped it 1/4 20, what I'm going to do is use red locktite to lock it on the setscrew. This set up should work well. That's all I have for now.

Hey guys, back on it for a little while anyway. While I was waiting for the servo bay doors from Dynamic balsa I finished gluing al the balsa sheets together. Last night I worked on laying out the ailerons on the cores and where to cut the foam for the servo leads. I left my camera at home so I'll post pics late tonight or tomorrow for sure.

Ok guys Pictures of what I’ve done so far.

First ones are the blocks where the wing studs go thru, I wanted to make sure the hole was square so I brought then to work and used the mill, I supported the block underneath it for two reasons, one I didn't want the block to slide on the jaws and it also keeps the bottom side of the blocks from splitting when the drill bit breaks thru.

OK as much as I hate to admit it I made a boo-boo but very minor. While I was gluing in the wing tube socket I fail to notice that the cut out on the wing for the inside ply support goes almost all the way thru the wing and you can guess what happend.

I'm working on wheel paints right now, because I lost one at the Mocksville contest I bought an extra set with this new kit so I;m doing two sets and as soon as they are done one set goes on my 118" 300 and the other set will be sitting here for the 124" pro already painted and ready to go. I'm in the shop today cutting my motor box for this kit, Dennis told me to keep on of them from the production run and I told him to just take them all because I knew where to get one of those for myself. That way he has an extra one. I'll start gluing sticks together as soon as I get this motorbox cut.

After we got the table in placed it put to use right away. We started with the upper turtle deck, first we set it in the chuck and marked and cut off some of the excess then Brent spray a very small mist of water on the sheet and placed it back on the chuck we gave it a few minutes this is to help the sheet take some of the radius without stressing it.

Now for the glue and the using a credit card and I'll have to say I was surprise as to how little glue we used but you can really see how the balsa absorbs the glue, once the glue was on it was sprayed with water again to activate the glue, in the bag in went and after just one hour it was ready to pull out, that Gorilla glue is something else.

Vacume bagging is the only way to go. That water bottle was a special order item. I don't think it is availble any more. I really like the new table. Best $375 investment I have made in a long time.

It is a Gast pump. A freind of mine set it up for me. All you need is the vacumme tank, pump and adjustable swithch. The pumps can be found on ebay usually for around $65. Here is a picture of my pump.

I know, I need to dust. Maids day off

Thanks Brent for the Help.

Last night I worked some more on one of the wing panels getting it ready to sheet, you will see the location of the servo bay. I used a router attachment on my dremell to get the correct dept, in order to keep everythin flush I just sbtracted the thickness of the sheet.

ok next step was to locate the bay doors on the sheet, so I ponder this for a while, and had a few ideas.. one was to make a template as I have seen on other threads or just take some meassurements but didn't like any, then it hit me, this just might work.

I placed the two bay doors on the panel I placed the sheet over the wing core, and then made sure I had plenty of overhangs. I lifted one side of the sheet and dropped some medium ca on top of the bay door then I lower the sheet back on top the door, I did this for both bay doors. I gave it a minute or so for the glue to work then lifted the sheet and now all I have to do is cut them out.

The last thing I did last night was to mark the sheeting so I can trim it, if you leave it too long, it will snap inside the vacum bag.

That's about it for now.

Looks good. Be sure to glue in the socket before you bring it over to sheet it.

Man a guy get's trashed around here if he turns his back! I never had wrist trouble until I started flyin IMAC and found that I had to use my left hand for more than just throttle up for take of and back to land!

I had to start carring a picture of my hand after Primo showed me the picture of his hand that he carries. I figure if I want to learn the roller I have to do what the Roller Baby does.

Ok, I finally got to work on the plane some. I'm still working on getting the wing cores ready to sheet, last night I was able to cut the foam for the servo leads. I shaped a piece of 1/8in welding rod and installed it on a Webber pistol grip soldering gun and it worked great.

As you will see in the next pictures, I marked the ID of the bay door so I can cut the foam out.
