BTW, Futaba is pronounced "phoo taa baa" as per a recent Japanese friend pronounced it for me. Futaba means "beginning of life" as in when the cotyledons of a germinating bean opens up!!

ACTUALLY..........With a japanese accent, you are very likely correct about the
proper pronunciation of the word "Futaba".
I heard a guy who knew someone that talked to a futaba dealer here in the states
and he said, as you head further west the appropriate pronunciation shifts just a bit.
An accurate linguistificational elaboration of the noun involved for the 50 U.S. states
would be....."F.U.B.A.R....A". Ya I know its different but I think it might be for real..

I have yet to fly an event, I am relatively new to the hobby. This is my second year flying, going into my third. I was lucky enough to run into a IMAC pilot at RAMAC's field and they (Justin and Dave) encouraged me to join and compete.

So my first event will likely be at Goshen, NY. Anyway, I just maidened an Extreme Flight Yak 54. I am running in it a DA-120, MTW tuned pipes, Hitec 7955s, dual receivers, etc. More info/pics are posted on my home club's site www.toponewjersey.org under builds (LenD).

I have attached a picture, not the best, but it beats a zero. The red rag is my reminder that I refueled..Yes, I forget.

Nice Plane Len,

FYI, leaving your fuel dot hanging out is another way to remembered that you have fueled, push it in when you power up. Worked for me.

Hum, so you think I will remember to put the fuel dot back in? No, trust me I likely will go up with the dot hanging out on the Tygon and my pilot will want hazard pay!

Nope, I'm on the rag!

Ya rub it in! Wait till you guys hit 50+, I can't recall what a fuel dot is after a
grueling Imac sequence......if its an unknown, I can't even remember to hook up the
glow plug or how to use the prop wind up spring....

Seriously though, thank you for the compliment on the plane and the tip. I likely will be bothering folks for mixes and set-up tips. This plane flies so true as it is with no mixes. I am very pleased with it so far.

Hempel is having one of his 40% Yak-55Ms done in my scheme for me. I'll be flying that in IMAC for 2012. Should have it in January, so hopefully I'll be able to make a Feb/March contest and then the rest of the year.

It really has nothing to do with the deadsticks. That was just a hole in the fuel line. It still flies and looks fine since March of 2008. I just sold it yesterday.

That plane will be just fine in Sportsman. Flying the sequence well is going to be more about practice and getting very familiar with the plane in different wind conditions. Burn lots of gas....
