Somewhat straightforward day 2 at the Nats…no loss of plane or tempers and the flying is picking up. Day 2 scores are posted above and we are expecting more photos this evening.
Good evening everyone,
Day two is now in the books. I spent the day over at site 4. The day started off for me with judging the Advanced unknowns, followed by scribing for the 4th round of Sportsman known’s and finishing for me with judging the 5th round of Sportsman known’s.
The weather started out very cool with very little wind but as the morning wore on the wind picked up. The real issues for those of us that were expecting temps in the low 70’s is it never felt like it hit 70. While the wind was considerably less, by at least 1/3rd, over the last 2 days, and the fact that is was overcast a good part of the day, those of us that wore shorts and did not take a coat or sweater with us found out rather quickly how cold it could seem. Thankfully, the ladies running around gathering the score sheets were thinking of us and gathered blankets and hot coffee for us. You could tell everyone at the Advanced and Sportsman lines were a bit chilled because as soon as the sun would peek out, everyone headed for the sunshine to warm up.
I was also able to give the score crew a 3G wireless card that my employer provided free of charge for use during the contest. This has helped them getting the scores sent to our IMAC webmaster since the site wireless access points are literally swamped with laptops and smart phones all trying to access the internet. They are sending pictures a different way so please be patient, there are loads of great pictures and you will get a chance to see them.
Day 3 promises to be very interesting. Unless something has changed, everyone is doing 2 unknowns then a single round of knowns then we pack it up so we can all go to the banquet.
Suffice it to say, those of us, including yours truly, that did not have a coat at all, could be seen at the local Walmart buying coats about 6:00pm. The forecast for tomorrow is winds 10 - 15 mph and temps in the mid to high 60’s and overcast with scattered showers after 9:00am.
Until tomorrow
