Man time is flying by!!! The NATS was huge and a great time by all that attended. The daily updates were a great addition to the IMAC website. I can’t remember the time when updates where added so quickly. Congratulations to all the winners and the pilots that made the trip to Muncie. A big Thank you to the NATS crew that put on the show. Without the many volunteers in this great organization, the NATS wouldn’t be what it is today!!
How can IMAC become better? I ask myself that question all the time. I’m even asked that question all the time. I feel that IMAC can become better by educating the future of our sport. From judging, to preparation of a contest, or the setup of an airplane that you just finished. All of these are examples of education, and can further our sport. How many times have you been traveling with your buddy to the next contest and discussed the judging criteria for a family? I’ve learned more in those discussion; then sitting at lunch reading the rulebook.
I’ve learned many things from the building side of this sport in the past year then I ever had. I always thought that I was a good builder. I had a great teacher in my dad. He designed all my planes that I flew in F3A. I usually built my own planes, but the past year I like many others the family grew. I didn’t have the time to build like normal. I felt it was easier to hire a builder. My builder has taught me a lot about building and life in general. I look at things a little different now from a building aspect and life. He taught me that when building two airplanes at the same time. That mine was the testing platform after many colds ones and that mine will always be the heavier of the two. I always got a kick out of that!!!
I bring these things up because this is how we learn, and this is how we can better our sport. There are some great ideas out there for many areas in IMAC. Don’t be afraid to share your ideas with anybody. I have seen some of the best discussion of the forums since it started on this website. We may not all share the same thoughts as others, but what we do share is this great sport.
Tip of the month!
The next time you take your 3 year old flying and ask him if he wants to hold the stick while you are flying. Make sure you have someone near by to help you pry his death grip on that said stick off, so you can pull up right before the plane hits the ground. Long live my Cub!!!
