International report – Sweden 2011

As of mid September the 2011 Swedish IMAC season came to an end, with regards to competitions that is.
Our cup-final was held in Sunne at the local airstrip. Perfect conditions with very light winds and clear blue sky. Most pilots performed very well and it was a joy to both fly and judge during this event. The intention was a 3-day contest but as the weather forecast said heavy rains on Sunday everyone was happy when the CD announced that the final flight on Saturday was really The final flight of the contest. A very nice dinner was held Saturday evening in the hangar followed by the award ceremony where not only the results of the competition was presented but also the winners in the total cup 2011. Total winners (1:st, 2:nd and 3:rd place) are also members of the Swedish National Team competing in the Nordic Championship (NC) next year.

2011 started with a judging seminar in March held by Rolf Meum from Norway. We also had two participant from Denmark. Focus this year was of course on the new rules but also a special on Snaps. We discussed a lot about autorotation and how the snap works. We had also shot a video with 10 examples of good and bad snaps which we judged. The following discussions was very good when we watched again in slow-motion and also the pilot flying could tell what he had done. Another topic for the weekend was if we should go ahead and start the Advanced class. Finally we decided that it was time and that we add Advanced as an option for the last five contests.

2011 was our best year by far since we got started with IMAC in 2006.
We had seven competitions this year, averaging 24 pilots per event and a total of 52 pilots taking part.

On top of that the NC was held in Denmark this year in the beginning of June. Sweden was again the overall winner and we kept the big trophy for another year.
As from our third competition (right after the NC) we introduced the next level in difficulty – Advanced. We just got three pilots entering the Advanced class but it’s a start. For the 2012 season there hopefully will be one or two more pilots moving up from Intermediate.

The system with pilot-judging is working well now as more pilots are involved and we get more experience.

As thousands of viewer (by beginning of November) know we made videos of the 2012 sequences in Basic, Sportsman, Intermediate and Advanced as soon as they where released. As years before it’s a lot of fun doing them and hopefully useful for other pilots to watch them flown in real life and not only on a sim.

For 2012 we are looking forward to another Judging School with Mr. Meum, 6-7 national contests and also the NC in Norway.

IMAC Sweden and all our participants would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude and thanks to the IMAC BOD and other staff for all your support with rules, sequences and more!

With hope for a short winter and another fantastic year 2012 J

Sincere greetings

IMAC Sweden

Peter: THANKS for eeping us up to date on what's happening over there in Sweden and the Nordic Region. Hope it stays warm over there for the Winter, although that is highly unlikely!

2010 will be my 3rd IMAC competing season. Started low cost in the Basic class 2008 with a cheap 78' Extra 330 and 10s5000 'no name' setup.I end of 2008 season, I felt I couldn't keep up with competition due to the fact I was running electric.alcohol rehab pa

I hope Mr. Meum will help in finding a good judging school and I am so excited for 2012's national contest. This will be a thrilling experience for all participants.
