Meeting date: 11/30/11 (Go To Meeting)
Members in attendance: Tim Attaway, Craig Baker, Will Berninger, Keith Bodeau, Curtis Cozier, Brian Foveaux, Wayne Matthews, Brian Sanik, Phil Vance
Members not in attendance: Eddie Bernaldez
Welcome: Wayne Matthews started the meeting at 9:03 P.M.
Report on Mexico Trip: Wayne Matthews reported the Mexico trip went well. The event was well organized and the Mexican IMAC group took great care of Don Hamilton and Wayne Matthews and paid for all expenses (airfare, food, hotels, etc.) for the trip. Mr. Torres (Mexican IMAC President) and Alvaro Deluna (Mexican IMAC Ambassador) met them at the airport and drove them to the hotel on Thursday. On Friday Wayne and Don went to the Field (Texcoco, Mexico-approximately 45 minutes from hotel) and conducted a mini-IMAC school for the pilots. Don Hamilton translated and Wayne Matthews taught a small mini-judging school. Wayne reported the contest was well attended (32) and pilots competed in basic, sportsman, intermediate, and advanced. The freestyle event was amazing and Wayne stated the pilots in Mexico would do very well competing in IMAC and IMAC-freestyle in the United States. The Mexican contest used the SCORE program during the event, but needed assistance with freestyle scoring. Wayne and Don worked out the freestyle scoring and were invited back for the 2012 Mexican National event. Wayne stated the Mexican IMAC group wanted to invite a few pilots to attend next year’s event to put on demonstrations for their pilots. Wayne stated the Mexican pilots expressed interest in attending the 2012 IMAC NATS in Muncie this year. The BOD looks forward to having international pilots attend this year’s NATS.
Aresti Catalog and RCP’s: Wayne Reported an issue with the new CIVA catalogs. The problem (double humpty and rolls) was noted by Kurt Koeling and reported to CIVA who had also found the error. The issue has been fixed and in the interim Wayne Matthews has contacted Pete Castine (rules committee chairman) to discuss the new changes. Wayne stated he started editing (renumbering the images to match the new catalog) the 2013 Scale Aerobatic rulebook and he and Craig Baker will continue editing the document after the RCP’s are finalized with the AMA. The first 5 IMAC RCP’s have been sent to the AMA; however, the 2 newest RCP’s must be posted for more than 30 days before they can be sent to the AMA. Wayne stated a blanket RCP (graphic changes to rule book) will be created to update the new changes created by the updated CIVA catalog. A discussion about the new double humpty and the difference between real aircraft vs. model aircraft brought up the new catalogs change in requiring equal radii for entrance and exit ¼ loops. IMAC may need to deviate from this change and continue to require equal radii to keep the double humpty from being placed in family 1 and not in the same family as a regular humpty (family 8). The BOD will wait for the recommendation from the rules committee before making a decision about the double humpty family placement. These changes will not effect next year’s contest season (2012).
IMAC World Championships (2014): Wayne reported he has been in contact with Dave Mathewson. Dave replied and is interested in meeting and discussing details of holding a 2014 World Championship. Wayne also presented a preliminary logo he developed to promote the event and use on all stationary. Wayne will discuss the following items with the AMA: infrastructure (tents, flying sites, etc.), non-profit tax issues, sponsorships, and general AMA involvement. Wayne asked for guidance for determining team champions vs. individual champions when teams don’t have equal numbers of participants. Tim Attaway stated this is an issue. Craig Baker recommended putting a minimum number of pilots for a country to compete in the national title race but any pilot from a country could compete for the individual world title. Wayne is continuing to work on this issue.
IMAC Website for 2012: Wayne presented the IMAC Forum auction for a new 3.1m Horizon Hobby Sukhoi SU-26MM airframe. The auction started just yesterday but has already had 308 views. We have now earned funds from the Extreme flight extra, Desert Aircraft 170 engine, and now the Horizon Hobby Sukhoi. These advertisers are donating items for auction in lieu of paying cash for IMAC website advertising. The BOD is excited about the new auction format and is looking forward to auctioning more items in the future. This is a win-win for the companies who advertise and IMAC. Wayne started a discussion about RD’s getting the ability to add and update scores directly on the IMAC website without having to contact Roy. Wayne will be asking Roy if there is a way the RD’s can update the score results and tabulate the region points. There are issues which need to be worked out (data base corruption, security, etc.) but Wayne will continue to work with Roy on making secure folders for the RD’s to update scores. Wayne stated Roy is going to update a few skins on the website and will be updating the website software soon. Wayne believes the advertising can assist with paying for the cost of updating and renewing the website. The BOD started a discussion about getting articles (technical-type) for members to read/ research and how to get more articles for the website. An idea to create an article index for the IMAC website was introduced and discussed. The purpose of the index would be to make searching and finding articles on the site easier for the members. The idea for an “experts speak” forum and paying people for articles was introduced. This forum would be a place for members to share articles for other members. This discussion will be continued at the next meeting.

Financial Report: Phil Vance presented the November expense report. The current November financial report is attached below. IMAC’s total cash on hand (PayPal and checking account) is $ 21,959.08 as of November 30, 2011.
The BOD approved the budget report.
Other Business:
1. SW Regional Contest: Wayne asked for a report on SW regional championship. Tim Attaway stated the event went over without a hitch even though there were weather concerns before the event started. Tim boasted he cooked an outstanding carne asada and carne pollo dinner for the pilots on Saturday during the rain delay.
2. NW Forum participation: Wayne asked Keith Bodeau how to promote NW member participation in the IMAC forums. What incentives are needed to bring the members to the site? Keith stated he could start posting in the NW forum and add links on the other sites to draw them to the IMAC Forums. Wayne used the example of the new Aresti Catalog and the need for members to get the information from the site. Wayne asked all RD’s to post items in their forums to bring or hook members in the site.
3. Microsoft update: Phil Vance asked if the IMAC BOD would be willing to reimburse him for the cost of updating his excel software from version 2003 to the version 2010. Tim Attaway made the motion to refund Phil the cost of the upgrade ($80.00). Curtis second the motion and the board unanimously approved the decision.
4. Website offer: Wayne asked how the BOD felt about the offer made by Mike Kranitz. IMAC currently uses it’s own registration software but the BOD discussed advertising IMAC on other websites. Craig Baker mentioned swapping banner ads between websites (Flying Giants posting a banner add for IMAC and IMAC posting a banner add for Flying Giants). Wayne will contact Mike to discuss options, however, the BOD believes the IMAC contest registration needs to stay on the IMAC site. Wayne will report to the BOD in the forums after discussing with Mr. Kranitz.
5. Sequence committee: Steven Dente was recommended by Tim Attaway to participate in the sequence committee. Wayne will talk to Tom Wheeler (chairman of the sequence committee) in the morning about adding sequence committee members.
6. Life membership: This discussion was tabled for the next meeting.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 10:56 P.M.
Next Meeting: A BOD conference call is scheduled for (a date to be decided) at 9:00 PM EST
