Well it it is finally time, in just a couple weeks the Northwest IMAC season will begin. It all starts with the Polar Bear on April 18-19 at the Cascade field in Snohomish WA. The Polar Bear can be an interesting contest as the weather does not always cooperate. Last year the brave soles that attended woke up to cold temps and a couple inches of snow on Sat morning. But by noon or so the planes were up and flying and everyone ended up having a very memorable weekend. Is anybody bringing skis this year?
Next up is Medford Madness on May 2-3 at the Rogue Eagles field in Medford Oregon. This where you go to meet up with all the Southern Or. and even some Northern Ca. flyers. I have been attending this event almost every year even though it is an 11 hour drive for me. I always look forward to the warm weather and all the friendly faces as this is usually the first contest I attend.

Our flying field North of Coeur d’ alene, Idaho on Mar 12th 09
I know some of you have been out there doing some flying and getting some practice, unfortunately because of the winter weather here in Northeastern Wa./Northern Id. (see pictures) we do not usually get a chance to get in to the air much before this but I did just get a report that we can see the runway now!!! I’m hoping we can get in the air by the time you read this.
Hope you all have those planes shined up and serviced and ready to run them through the rigors of competition for the first time this year, and if it is a new one get out there if you can and get that thing dialed in. I’m looking forward to a great year, we got a good bunch of guys moving up from Basic last year so the Sportsman class will have some new blood and be as competitive as ever. Let’s be sure to give these guys all the help they need to make a successful transition in to this class.
I’m getting anxious to get the 100:1 juice flowing again and to see everyone’s familiar faces, it has been a long winter and I’m looking forward to some sunshine and blue sky.
Thanks
