I have flown R/C off & on since 1978 and caught the IMAC bug 11-12 years ago. I live in Spokane Washington and it all started out innocently enough as a flying buddy of mine (a previous pattern flyer) said we should go fly a small local Imac contest for fun. Well, I left that contest with my Goldberg Ultimate still intact and that was all it took, I was hooked. I attended a couple more local contests and then traveled over to the Seattle area and entered Sportsman for my first Northwest points contest and had a blast. I flew Sportsman at the Imac Nationals in Toledo Ohio in the late 90's then moved to Advanced for about 5 years and now fly in the Unlimited class.

After 10 plus years, numerous different airplanes, meeting a great bunch guys, and the same wife (Thank you honey) I can say that I still enjoy this sport as much as I ever did. I look forward to leading the Northwest Region and contributing to IMAC’s future for the next few years.

Regional Update – Southern Idaho, January 2009

by Michael Verzwyvelt ---

We are all in building mode right now as we watch the snow come and go. Last season was another great year for IMAC in the Northwest. In the southern portion of the region we had the second Twin Falls Tumble and the Nampa Escape IMAC competitions with a fair turnout of pilots from all over the region and a few from the Southwest region as well. Earlier in the year we had our first ever and very successful Judging Seminar held in Nampa, Idaho and put on by our NW director Keith Bodeau.

We will be planning on the same agenda for the ‘09 season starting off with the much needed and appreciated Judging Seminar, March 7 & 8, to be held again in Nampa, Idaho (specific location to be announced). Then we will have the much anticipated Twin Falls Tumble IMAC contest, May 30 & 31 here in Twin Falls, Idaho. Then later in the season we will be looking forward to the great Nampa Escape IMAC contest, August 8 & 9, in Nampa, Idaho. As for the local scene, we will be holding the first meetings of the new year for our two local clubs soon and will be promoting new IMAC members into the Northwest region.

Last fall we had quite a few newer pilots showing interest in IMAC competition and will be looking forward to working with them this spring to continue with the quest. I hope that you are all studying the new ‘09 sequences and are working on your new freestyle routines, putting together music, etc.

I look forward to the new season of competing with the old friends and meeting the new.

Michael,
Are those the correct dates for the Twin Falls Tumble: May 30 & 31, Sun & Mon (Memorial day), and for the Nampa Escape: August 8 & 9, also Sun & Mon?
