There were 18 registered pilots (only 17 flew) for the CCRC’s first IMAC contest. Five Basic, 5 Sportsman, 6 Intermediate, ZERO Advanced pilots and one Unlimited pilot. flew three rounds Saturday on one flight line. One flight line was used due to the lack of more upper class pilots and it would have been unfair to work the one unlimited pilot to death!!
The flying started at 1000 hrs and lasted until 1800 hrs. Most of the day was beautif with only a few clouds, light breeze and high humidity. Bad weather was not an issue but could have been but thanks to a couple of pilots with their IPhones that had access to active weather radar) we were able to finish the third round - the radar indicated the bad weather was going west and north of us!
The unknowns were flown starting at 0900 hrs on Sunday morning and were completed by 1145 hrs in very high humidity and a low ceiling as indicated by the first pilot to fly a “tall” maneuver – his plane disappeared into the clouds!! Most pilots keep their planes lower that the cloud until the ceiling lifted to a higher level.
Don’s Hobby Shop, Aeroworks, Horizon Hobbies and SWB donated prizes – a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to each of these fine establishments for these prizes. They were given out by drawing tickets given to each registered pilot at registration until everyone received at least three prizes. It worked out great. By the time the prizes were handed out the final results were out of the computer and available to award.
By the way, CDs be sure and use the latest version of the SCORE program!!
