NC Regional Update – August 09

Hi everyone...

The one issue we keep running into at just about every contest is the Regional Points totals not being accurate when the contest results are posted.  On pretty much all instances, this can be traced to the wrong IMAC number being entered into the scoring program.  If this happens for you, your points will not be accurate.  We have been correcting this after the fact but, its a lot of extra work for everyone on the back end of the contests.

PLEASE print out your IMAC card and bring it with you to each contest you go to.  Please take it upon yourself to make sure your number is correct at registration.  If you are a CD or a Scorekeeper, we need you guys to be extra careful when entering numbers into the program.  The program is very capable but as they say, garbage in, garbage out.

The IMAC website now has a cool feature that allows any IMAC member to view active members and IMAC numbers.

If you go to the home page, under the About IMAC header you will see Membership Statistics.  When you click on that the entire IMAC member list comes up.  This is in Alphabetical order and is accurate to that day.  Scorekeepers and CD's should be using this page now to enter pilots and IMAC numbers into the scoring program.  This will save a lot of headaches.

I am also getting a lot of questions about how Regional Points are tabulated and scored.  This article explains the RPS in great detail.

While we are talking about Regional Points I need to let you all know that there is a slight possibility that the Regional Trophies will not be handed out at the Regional Contest .

Trophies are ordered and Lew will have them in his possession at the Regional's but, let me explain why the tabulations may not be complete at the end of that day.

The results are based on a pilot's top 5 events and possible tie breakers based on normalized score. At the last event, a pilot may drop a previous event and/or change their normalized score which you would only know IF you had all their previous events and their normalized score. The easiest way to do this is to feed the final results into the database which is already set up to handle this...but probably not going to happen at the day of the event.

We are trying to come up with something that will allow the calculations to be made at the contest but I wanted to let everyone know that getting the Regional Trophies handed out that day may not happen.

If there is a way to get them handed out, I can assure you we will.

Thanks everyone.

Fly well...

Wayne
