I have flown R/C off & on since 1978 and caught the IMAC bug 11-12 years ago. I live in Spokane Washington and it all started out innocently enough as a flying buddy of mine (a previous pattern flyer) said we should go fly a small local Imac contest for fun. Well, I left that contest with my Goldberg Ultimate still intact and that was all it took, I was hooked. I attended a couple more local contests and then traveled over to the Seattle area and entered Sportsman for my first Northwest points contest and had a blast. I flew Sportsman at the Imac Nationals in Toledo Ohio in the late 90's then moved to Advanced for about 5 years and now fly in the Unlimited class.

After 10 plus years, numerous different airplanes, meeting a great bunch guys, and the same wife (Thank you honey) I can say that I still enjoy this sport as much as I ever did. I look forward to leading the Northwest Region and contributing to IMAC’s future for the next few years.

Keith

Regional Update – April 2010

Here we are, about to start the 2010 season, I can not believe how fast the winter went. The Polar Bear will kick off the season at Olympia with Mike Raines as CD. Mike is expecting a good turnout and with the mild winter we have had here in the Northwest this year I’m sure everyone is excited and has been able to fly the new sequences so it should be a good one.

We just completed our 2010 Judging seminar and I hope everyone that attended left with enough new information to get them well on there way to being a better informed and confident judge. I look forward to seeing some new faces in the judging chairs this year and as a pilot getting closer to that perfect sequence that comes from knowing what the judges are looking for. Thanks to all that attended, this is one of the best ways to improve the flying here in the Northwest.

We have added a couple new contests this year, first up is the Borderline Blitz at Bellingham, Jerry Ruscheinski has worked with the club members of the Bell-Air Flyers to host a contest this year to replace the Surrey contest. This should be within easy driving distance for our Seattle area and British Columbia pilots and is sure to have both flags flying high.

The Red Apple Flyers welcome us back to Wenatchee this year so we can get a taste of their new state of the art flying field. Full camping hookups, showers, lunch room, roof top deck and much more at this great new field. Thank you to Jeff Bellinger and Michael Hunt for bringing this contest back to the Northwest.

I would like to welcome Peter Butschek as the new IMAC Northwest IReporter. Peter will be working hard to get some pictures and contest reports up on the website so vistors will see what a good time we have up here. He will also be going through some of the information that was up on the old Northwest site so we can get some history on the Imac site as well.

Congrats to 2009’s Regional Points Champions:

John Wondra – Unlimited
Darren Kuhn – Advanced
Harv Dhiman – Intermediate
John Eells – Sportsman
Geoffrey Dryer – Basic
Nick Bowling - Senior

I look forward to seeing everyone at the contests this year.

Northwest Regional Director
