1986 my son was born and I found radio control airplanes that year. My interest was always to fly the most aerobatic airplane I could find. Early on it was a Chipmunk and then Goldberg Ultimate bipes and now I am starting my 7th year in Unlimited flying.

The 30 years as an educator was enjoyable .....and now a gradual accumulation of responsibilities have come my way and that makes me happy. President of my home club for 12 years, AMA contest coordinator for 10 years, AMA AVP 2008, Scale Aerobatic Contest Board 3 years, a year on the ISC, Associate Regional Director for a number of years, and now the Regional Director of the South West. My biggest thrill is making the Tucson Shootout each year and trying to improve enough to challenge the youngsters that seem to be proliferating as each new year dawns.

The challenges ahead for me and for IMAC are a constant source of satisfaction as well as just another opportunity to excel in this life. I just hope to continue this passion for flying as long as I can and I hope to pass it on to many.

It’s HERE! - Welcome!

HOLY MOLY----IT IS HERE!!! A full service, multi-faceted, easy to navigate web siteLAUREL-HARDY_88__P-828_810_20

Please, SW members could be members, and SW “wanna be” IMAC pilots check out how easy it is to join in 2009. Complete an easy sign up page and then print out a current IMAC card with name and number immediately.

Next, check out the training library for the new creation of figure by figure description of the downgrades to watch for as pilots and judge,…THIS IS TERRIFIC STUFF!!

Follow that with Quick Links on the right side of the opening page…..each tab is chuck full of everything you want or need to know. While looking around download a copy of the Flying and Judging Guide, 46 pages you really need to have as a resource.

Want to sign up for a contest then go to the list of contests for the region and click on it and look for the registration button link. This is too easy so go look at your calendar first and map out the start of your year.

Got something else you are going to like: check out the SW forum where you may post questions, discuss issues and vent politely over stuff your RD does not do enough of or do it in the correct way you think it should. One issue to be considering is a possible two day judging school in the favorite convention city of the world….Las Vegas….sometime this year?

Also, FYI, the BOD, ISC and several other committees all share the web site; functionality…it is way up!

I think you are destined to agree that we have a lot to offer and this is only the start. Check out the mug shots of the Board of Directors….my smiling face is there too, and see what they have to say for themselves.

Each region has gallery space for pictures of contests, planes, pilots etc. and if you send it to Pedro he will control what goes up so that it is in good taste. Starting this month with the Superstition Mountain IMAC results we expect to see much about it and the other contests in the region as the year goes along. We will have contests results and points totals that Pedro will engineer for the region, there will be a link to that until the IMAC site comes on line with one on the site.
