United States

In 2017 the America’s Cup was contested at three events: Saranac and Jackson, MI, and Woodstock, Ontario. The United States was represented by 21 different pilots and Canada was supported by 18 pilots. 39 different pilots completed 670 judged flights.
The United States won two events, Saranac and Jackson, MI, and Canada was the winner at Woodstock, Ontario. The high point US pilot was Matt Komar and Daniel Reichart was the high point Canadian pilot.
The cup has been updated and now has all of the winners and events on the trophy. We are ready for the 2018 competition. The schedule for 2018 should be ready by January of 2018.
IMAC North Central Region has a very nice trophy with three years of contests engraved on the cup. The scoring system which uses the Bennett scoring system has been used 9 times and performs well.
Cross border participation has proven to be more difficult in the last year. The value of the Canadian dollar has made it expensive for our North Central region members to participate in the United States. The first two years of competition had some US participation in Canada. In 2017 no US pilots participated in Canada.
Some adjustment in the cup competition is in order. What it will be remains to be solved. If you have any opinions on this situation please share them with all of us. We are open to everyone’s view on this matter. In any event we plan on having events in 2018. Add to the cup and award high point awards. Let us hear from you.
