Guys I am looking at the GP performance series. A couple of guys I fly with have them. One is the YAK and the other is the CAP232. I have flown the YAK with a 50cc on it and I think it was as good as sex. It flew so nice so I am leaning toward the SU-31 since it is a simular plane. Can someone recomend which one would be better to start with. I just don't have the room for anything much bigger then a 25-27% plane. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Clayton

Welcome Clayton!

If you look around at what most people are flying in IMAC you will find Extras and Yaks. Not many Caps or SU-31s.

I don't think you can go wrong with the SU-31 or the Yak.

Thanks guys I can't wait to get out and meet some of you. My first thought was the gp ultimate 160 size but some guys say they are not the best plane for imac but no one has one. What about the hangar 9 extra? The only complaint I have heard about the gp yak is the landing gear mount needs to be beefed up. Has anyone tried the gp pitts m12s? Looks cool. I really like that yak and I guess I could recover it this winter.

Thanks
Clayton

I am way up here in canada. Just across the river from detroit.

Primo I would be interested if I was a bit closer to you. My bugget is around the $900 mark for engine and plane. But I have to sell off a couple of my 90 size heli's.

Thats great, congrats on the new bundle of joy. I have a 2 month old son and a 21 month old son. They are a ton of work but we have them trained to sleep threw the night. Both would make it through at around a month old. My 2 year old just wants to be with daddy flying. It is a great time in there life, but time managment for yourself becomes a huge thing otherwise you get left with very little time to fly. This is why I am selling off some stuff so I can focus more and do less tinkering and more flying. I have a trex 600 esp which is great because it is quiet and I can fly it just about anywhere, the nitros must go they are just too much work and I can't just grab and go with them.

I might have a deal with a guy in my local club here for an extra but it is still up in the air.

Claton,

Dang I just read where you are from now.

I am from Mississauga and was just at a contest in Chatham this past weekend.

To bad you could have come out to watch and see what goes on at a contest. We could have even put you to work as a scribe.

Anyone else in your area fly IMAC?

Welcome to IMAC...EH!

Ya I was going to try and get over to chatham but the wife had other plans for fathers day weekend. Oh well I know Don McCullen from chatham we have flown together a couple of times and he has given me some advise.

I have sparked alot of interest in my club for the IMAC flying. So much so they want me to start posting on your website about how to do it. I use to fly pattern and compete with my heli so I have a good idea of how it all works. Figuring out how to help other guys is going to be a bit challanging since I am still trying to figure it out myself. But everyone is very eager to learn in the club. They are even talking about trying to host something next season.;. Currently there is about 5-6 guys that have aproached me after I was talking about it at our funfly so it looks very promising.

I still need a plane though. I have both my 90 size heli's on ebay and rccanada trying to sell them to get something together before the end of the season so in the meantime I will just keep plugging away with my Cub. I have an old 40 size su-31 but it is in a sad state and it never really flew that well.

Anyway hope to make it out to an event soon.

Where is your club?

For hosting a contest, you would need to contact your regional director, who for the NC region is Wayne Geffon.
But I would recommend attending a few first and then going from there.

Hosting a contest is a very rewarding experience, but it is quite a bit of hard work too!

The club is located about 45min from windsor near staples ontario.

The guys all want to attend a few contests this year then possibly make plans to have either an IMAC fun fly or even a contest next year.

Clayton,

The last half of September is wide open. Our last IMAC contest in Ontario this year will be in August up in Sudbury.

The KW Flyin is the weekend after Labour Day and well attended by most IMAC flyers in Southern Ontario but if your club wanted to host perhaps a one day Primer on Saturday Sept 18 or 25 I bet a lot of the current IMAC flyers would be willing to help out. There are three guys alone in Chatham which would be a stones throw from you. Couple more in Tillsonberg and a smattering of 1/2 dozen of us between Mississauga and Woodstock who will be in IMAC withdrawl about that time.

Jump over to RC Candaa and start a thread in the Scale Aerobatics forum telling us about your club and the growing interest in IMAC and I am sure there will be tonnes of responses.

There are several of us who have done Primers before and would be willing to help. Another IMAC hot spot in Ontario will be welcomed with open arms especially if you guys are willing to host a contest. We can always use another contest.

Flying Tigers Scale Aerobatics Encounter is only 3 weeks away. Come and visit us in Cayuga, even if only for a few hours. Try and bring some of those guys interested and whet their appatite!
