Just a quick question. FOr anyone who has hosted an IMAC contest. Has your local club charged an "event fee" to use the club. I am not talking about food concessions or anything like that... just a plain and simple use fee or rent to use the field for the weekend?? Curious Thanks |

I have actually thought about doing just this to help raise money for the SE Regions pot. I do not find it unreasonable. Let's hear your thoughts. Kp |

Not sure what you mean? I am curious about a club charging a fee and the monies only go to the club. |

No my club did not charge a fee but I gave them the money that was made so they would want me to do it again. They did give up their field for the weekend. |

I have always looked at the local club hosting an IMAC contest as another semi-money making event for the club. Most of the club members contribute to helping run the contest - food prep, concession stand, scoring, crowd control, parking etc. The thought of the proceeds going to anyone or thing other than into the local club treasury has never crossed my mind or anyone elses' mind. I think it should stay that way!! Bobby |

Bobby, again, I am not referring to any possible food revenue.

What I mean is offer the club X $$$ and then give the proceeds to SE IMAC for aid in the Regional Championship. Over and above the $3.00 per pilot. Kp |

Most of the time a club only has one or two guys interested in IMAC and anyone that has ever CDed a contest knows that it takes 8-10 people to put one on! Therefore, you need the backing and help from the club. The bottom line is that it's a lot of work to put on a contest and any net profit gained from the total proceeds of a contest should go into the club's coffers! I don't know about you alls' clubs but the two I belong two are "shoe string" operations with just enough cash from dues and a couple of events per year to defer the lease cost, grass mowing/lownmower repair, gas cost, field maintainence etc. I can't imagine anthing other than giving the club the proceeds from a contest!! While I appreciate the insight... I'm really just curious about this Has your local club charged an "event fee" to use the club. Not a donation, or a bit of proceeds, but a fee just to get use of the field....... |

Curtis, I am with bobby on this one. My club put up the upfront money. food, sanction, trophies, prizes, etc. And all the proceeds go to the club short of the 3. per pilot fee for the southeast region. With all the contests this year is there really a need for imac to charge an additional fee for the regional's ? Doesn't wash well with me. tony |

Ok everyone stop and go back and read what this thread is about, nobody asked anybody to send anymore money to IMAC. Curtis asked a question, has a local club charged a Fee to use their field to have an event for the weekend. Sounds like a yes or no answer to me, all this other stuff is just guys thoughts. |

It almost sounds to me like Curtis is skirting an issue where a club doesn't want an IMAC contest to happen and rather than just say no to it, they are trying to defer it by charging a fee to use their field. This could set a bad precedent for IMAC especially if the word gets out to other clubs. If it were me, I would move on and forget holding an IMAC contest at a place where I wasn't wanted. As someone said, bad mojo here. Bobby |

Speaking for three different clubs, the answer is "no" for all of them. |

No my club has never charged a fee to use the field. My registration fee covers cost of trophies, stationary, printer ink, gas for genny and propane for BBQ. Anything left over goes to the club coffers. It ussually isn't much but the club enjoys people actually using the field so they do not mind giving it up for one weekend as it is the only event we host. |
